Overview

The Salzburg Global LGBT* Forum advances the human rights of LGBT people and communities around the world. Founded in 2013, it has created a trusted 76-country network of LGBT and human rights leaders to facilitate open exchange and collaboration in highly-diverse contexts, spanning government, law, diplomacy, religion, finance, media and culture.

* LGBT: Lesbian, Gay, Attracted to both genders and Transgender. We are using this term as it is currently widely used in human rights conversations on sexual orientation and gender identity in many parts of the world, and we would wish it to be read as inclusive of other cultural concepts, contemporary or historical, to express sexuality and gender, intersex and gender non-conforming identities.

Anti-LGBTQ

A central theme of anti-LGBTQ+ organizing and ideology is the opposition to Diverse rights or support of homophobia, heterosexism and/or cisnormativity, often expressed through demonizing rhetoric and grounded in harmful pseudoscience that portrays LGBTQ+ people as threats to children, society and often public health.

Who are we?

The Queer woman , Gay, Bisexual, Gender non-conforming, Queer, Questioning & Intersex (LGBTQ) Workers' Forum provides networking and social opportunities, support and mentoring in partnership with the council's Communities, Equality and Third Sector Team, data and events for lesbian, gay, multi-attracted , trans, queer, agender, intersex and questioning people who perform for the council at all levels.

What does the LGBTQ Workers' Forum do?

Much of our perform is internally-focussed, and revolves around offering LGBTQ staff growth opportunities, creating networks of support and helping them with discrimination where it occurs.

However, we also look to involve the many diverse LGBTQ communities in the city in the council’s work.

Generally we aim to:

  • support personal development of members through teaching and empowerment opportunities
  • facilitate the involvement of LGBTQ staff in consultations council policies - in particular employment and human resource issues; we work to preserve LGBTQ issues on top of the HR, equalities and policy agendas.     Washington– The Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest lesbian, homosexual, bisexual and transgender civil rights organization, is taking GOP presidential candidates to task for embracing antagonistic anti-gay groups by participating in Saturday’s “Thanksgiving Family Forum.” This debate-style forum billed as an “in-depth conversation” in Des Moines, IA is hosted by leading anti-gay groups The Family Leader, the National Organization for Marriage (NOM), and Focus on the Family. Herman Cain, Newt Gingrich, Rick Perry, Michele Bachmann, Rick Santorum and Ron Paul are confirmed to attend.

    Aug. 10, 2007 — -- Six Democratic presidential candidates engaged Thursday in a strikingly candid and uncovering discussion about male lover rights in a forum hosted by the Human Rights Campaign and publish on the same-sex attracted television and Internet network Logo.

    Margaret Carlson moderated with three additional questioners — HRC president Joe Solmonese, rock player Melissa Etheridge and Washington Post columnist Jonathan Capehart — who all asked some of the most difficult and probing questions the candidates have faced this election cycle.

    Six of the eight declared Democratic candidates appeared, one at a time, sitting on an upholstered chair to respond questions.

    New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson was asked whether he thought homosexuality is a choice, Illinois Sen. Barack Obama was asked what place he thinks the church should have in government-sanctioned civil marriages and New York Sen. Hillary Clinton was asked what is at the heart of her rivalry to gay marriage.
