“J.B. Pritzker has the vision and experience needed to build a stronger future for the hard-working families of Illinois,” said HRC Senior Vice President for Policy and Political Affairs JoDee Winterhof. “From fighting for access to affordable healthcare to standing up to the Trump-Pence White Residence and their hateful agenda, Pritzker is committed to moving Illinois forward and advancing fairness and equality for all. HRC is haughty to endorse J.B. Pritzker for governor.”
“Juliana and I are so proud to have the Human Rights Campaign by our side as we fight to uplift our state’s LGBTQ community and move Illinois forward,” said JB Pritzker. “My mother instilled in me a spirit of inclusivity and respect for the humanity of all people, and that’s why I’ve been a staunch advocate for LGBTQ rights my entire life. While we’ve made historic strides toward equality, we have a president who threatens civil rights and a governor who just vetoed workplace protections and slashed critical services during his budget crisis. As a child growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area, Pritzker often shares, he’d attend marches, rallies and protests with his mother in support of abortion, women’s rights and LGBTQ issues. Those experiences, Pritzker says, set the foundation for many of his progressive beliefs.
“I’m living proof that introducing your kids to the same-sex attracted agenda might result in them growing up to be governor,” Pritzker told a crowd at a Human Rights Campaign event in Los Angeles in March.
Pritzker has made supporting LGBTQ rights a regular part of his platform as governor, including speaking at dinner events for the HRC and Equality Illinois in recent months. He’s set to say to the New Hampshire Democratic Party on Sunday – one of the first Democratic presidential principal states.
But some Democrats, who are often named as possible 2028 Democratic presidential candidates alongside Pritzker, deliberate the party needs to talk less about LGBTQ issues such as trans athletes.
“We weren’t good on the kitchen table issues; we weren’t really excellent on the family room — the only ro
