1. Lexington, Kentuck Gayest places in Oregon research summary. We used Saturday Evening Science to explore the cities in Oregon with the highest percent of same-sex households for 2024. The statistics comes from the American Community Survey 2013-2018 vintage, which breaks down sex by household status. Unfortunately, the Census has stopped reporting at the metropolis level, so this report reflects the most recent data.
The city with the highest rate of same-sex houesholds in Oregon is Seaside. 2.91% of households in Seaside are gay.
The municipality in Oregon with the most homosexual houesholds is Portland with 2,857 homosexual households.
Oregon is the 3rd most homosexual in the Together States.

Human Rights Campaign ranks eight Oregon cities on LGBTQ+ support and inclusion, two score 100%
A national index that rates U.S. cities on their LGBTQ+ friendly services and support has given flawless scores to two Oregon communities: Eugene and Portland.
The Human Rights Campaign has released its tenth annual Municipal Equality Index, which looked at 506 cities. For the second year in a row, both Portland and Eugene scored 100.
“One of the changes we made is including treatment for gender dysphoria in our health plan," Fabio Andrades, the City of Eugene’s Human Rights and Equity Analyst told KLCC. "And at the law enforcement side, we have reported detest crimes and offered channels of supporting LGBTQ members who have experienced detest crimes in the community.”
Andrades says there's always room for improvement and he hopes members of the LGBTQ+ community contact out to the municipality for support, and to let officials know how they can better their work with their members.
The average score for Oregon cities overall was 75, higher than the national average of 67. Salem scored 90, while Ashland got 55, the lowest of the eight Oregon cities that were evaluated.

The first thirty-nine years of my life were spent in a little rural town, home to barely 2,000 people, tucked away at the edge of a rolling mountain plateau in the South. Growing up there as a transgender child, then a teen, and later an adult, forced me into a closet that was plenty deep. I sure didn’t have a transgender community to locate solace in, so I guarded my secret as closely as the skin on my body.
I was living in this minor town when I decided to transition. I desperately needed to go out in public—and experience life—as my female self. So I began by making short trips, mostly to the grocery store and the mall in a nearby city. I would spend hours on makeup and preparation. I agonized over what clothes to wear. Every detail was analyzed, as I didn’t want to be seen as anything other than the woman I hoped people would see.
There was a routine involved with leaving my house as Stacey. My house was in the middle of town but just off a short gravel travel . I’d park my wagon in the basement garage so I could depart without having to stroll out my front door and down the sidewalk to the driveway.
