Angry Snowmans at the Waldorf, Dec, 8, 2023. All photos but the David M selfie by Allan MacInnis, not to be reused without permission, unless you are in the photo, in which case, occupy your boots

Being friends with David M. (founder and still frontman of NO FUN, the Beatles of Surrey) means that I have learned to recognize a good Christmas-themed punk show. How can one not love (rude, funny) NO FUN originals fond of "Christmas is a Mournful and Lonely Time," or their slightly altered seasonal covers, like the Subhumans' "Slave to My Dick" festively re-interpreted as "Slave to My Gifts"...?

But what are the odds that two distinct bands would have their own Christmas-themed version of that Vancouver punk classic? Check out "Slave to St. Nick," by Angry Snowmans, riffing on the same tune. Fun, eh? (People in the dark about the Angry Snowmans' name are probably unaware that there is a punk band called Angry Samoans. The Samoans and the Snowmans have no other overlaps that I'm aware of; it's just another of the many Yuleish repurposings, or Christmasizations, if you will, of things punk that the Victoria-based Snowmans perpetrate).

'Superman Was Gay!' Macho Porn Star's Shocking Claim He Had Fling With Christopher Reeve Resurfaces As New 'Tearjerking' Male of Steel Documentary Comes Out

Movie Man of SteelChristopher Reeve was rumored to have had an affair with a macho male porn star.

RadarOnline.com can reveal adult production star Cal Culver claimed he had intimate relations with the late Superman actor and "liberated" his sexuality.

The bombshell claims resurfaced ahead of the release of a "tearjerking" new documentary about Reeve, who died in 2004 aged 54 from heart failure – years after he was left crippled and in a wheelchair following a horse riding accident.

His claims were laid out in the sensational book Hollywood Babylon Strikes Again by Darwin Porter and Danforth Prince.

The adult film celestial body previously said: "Christopher was a excellent lover and I think I liberated him sexually."

Culver explained he met Reeve when they both auditioned for a Broadway act in 1975.

Although Katharine Hepburn, who held auditions for the comedy A Matter of Force, ultimately hired Reeve

Near the beginning of "And The Band Played On" -- only the most underrated made-for-cable movie of all time -- the Centers for Disease Control meets to discuss the statistics of a deadly virus sweeping through the queer community. Nobody can approach up with an explanation. Everyone falls silent. Finally, the CDC head (played by That Guy Hall of Famer Saul Rubinek) glances around the room and asks, "All right, what do we think? What do we know? What can we prove?"

That ends up being a running theme in the movie. What do we think? What do we know? What can we prove?

I mention this for two reasons. First, I wanted to be the first sports columnist ever to lead a football gambling column with a relevant story about AIDS and the Center of Disease Control. And second, when I was watching this movie for the 130th time this week and waiting for the scene in which Matthew Modine screams at the blood bank bosses who refuse to use the hepatitis B test for blood donors, "How many people have to die? Give us a number so we won't annoy you anymore!" ... the scene with the CDC head leapt out at me. I never really thought about it before.

What do we think? What do we

The Last '80s Newsletter (You'll Ever Need)

The premise is simple, but the task is not. Every unpartnered movie released in the United States during the 1980s, reviewed in chronological order, published month by month.

Buckle up, because this is The Last ‘80s Newsletter You’ll Ever Need…

Ronald Reagan was nominated for President by the Republicans at their convention in Detroit.
Bjorn Borg beat John McEnroe at Wimbledon.
Billy Joel’s “Glass Houses” sat on superior of the charts.
And in an act that was designed to send a political message,
the US officially sat out the Moscow Olympics.

Saturday Bedtime Live was a enormous deal in my dwelling, which was odd considering my dad’s aversion to the counter-culture.

One of my earliest memories regarding the show came when I crept downstairs one night because I could hear my parents laughing at something. It was the Julia Child sketch where Dan Aykroyd chop his hand and bled everywhere, and watching them lose their minds with laughter, I was amazed. From that moment on, I was obsessed with the show, and watching the cast members spring from the show to movies was one of the things that made the ‘80s so absorbing from end to cease. I wa
