Miles
Inspired by a true story, Miles the movie focuses on adolescent 17-year-old Miles, a senior at Pondley High Educational facility in Illinois in 1999. Miles longs to be the next Steven Spielberg, but life isn’t uncomplicated for him. His father is distant, and his dad doesn’t get along with his mother, either. His mother is an English teacher at his school. And Miles is keeping a secret too. He is secretly lgbtq+ and has been messaging other gay friends on Instant Messenger. At this point, his mom doesn’t know, but does his dad?
Tragedy strikes and Ron, Miles’ dad, dies suddenly. Miles’ mom, Pam, opens up to Miles, telling him that his dad had a great feeling of humor when they first got married, but he began to transform. He became controlling and she states she knows he was fooling around on her. She admits she almost asked for a divorce, and she says she wishes Ron would have been nicer to Miles. Miles later is messaging a companion and the friend asks if his dad knew he was gay, and Miles replies that yes, he did, and “he didn’t care…about anyone.”
Miles wants to leave Pondley no matter what it takes. He wants to travel to a college in Chicago and take motion picture courses. But things just seem to get worse a

Now Tim Boardman is my type of lad. You know why, don't you, readers? (wink wink)
Tim lost his brand fresh sunglasses last week JUST as he was heading to LaLa Land for the premiere of his film, Miles, which is being presented at #OutfestLA . Tim, I wish you got another pair of sunglasses because I'm told they are a commodity in LA!
It's challenging to focus when I'm looking at Tim's picture so you may see I'm all over the place in this intro. I'm not sorry.
And what would an article by me be without a connection to "V"? The premiere of Miles is July 16th, matching day as "V" actress Faye Grant's birthday.
Miles centers on a young male lover man who discovers his recently deceased father has squandered his tuition fund in an illicit affair. He joins the girls' volleyball team in his small town to defeat a college scholarship.

This feel-good coming-of-age dramedy touches on several important themes: LGBTQ identity, gender equality and stereotypes, decrease, and financial issues. But it never dives deep enough into these issues to make them stick. The pace drags at times, and it can feel like Miles is simultaneously trying to do too much and too little. But Miles is a relatable role model for teens. His sexual identity isn't the center of his storyline, and his romantic life isn't the central fixate of the production. He never victimizes himself, regardless of the obstacles he faces, and he always believes that hard work will get him where he needs to go. After everything he goes through, he remains a symbol of power and positivity for his mother.
That said, Boardman's stoic acting sometimes makes Miles seem apathetic rather than strong. And parts of the story seem underdeveloped, leaving viewers wanting more. More awareness into Miles' parents' marriage, the association between the coach and the team, and Miles' LGBTQ identity and his passion for filmmaking would've made the storyline stick. The dialogue also feels a bit forced, especially during points of high tension or conflict. But the movie eventu

Miles is a blandly pleasant movie, but there isn't that much drama or comedy or connection to reality. The actor playing Miles is likable but the plight facing his character isn't that compelling and the premise for the feature, though supposedly "inspired" by a real story, isn't especially convincing.
Miles wants to escape small town Illinois and head off to the bright lights of Chicago to attend college once he finishes lofty school. Those plans linger on a modest amount of money set aside for him by his parents, but his father seems to have blown through the money and this only
